Description

Xylene, appears as a clear colorless liquid with a characteristic aromatic odor consisting of a mixture of the three isomers (ortho-, meta- and para-). The latter two predominate. It floats on water. It May be toxic by ingestion. Vapors are heavier than air and may be narcotic in high concentrations.

Application

Widely used in coatings, resins, dyes, inks, and other industries as solvents; used in pharmaceuticals, explosives, pesticides, and other industries as synthetic monomers or solvents
